- 2 oz tequila
- 4 oz fresh orange juice
- 0.5 oz grenadine
- Orange slice and cherry, to garnish
Instructions
- 1Fill a highball glass with ice and add tequila and orange juice.
- 2Slowly pour grenadine over the back of a spoon so it settles at the bottom.
- 3Garnish with an orange slice and cherry.

Sausalito, California, 1970s
While an earlier tequila version existed in the 1930s, the modern layered grenadine-and-orange-juice Tequila Sunrise was popularized after the Rolling Stones reportedly drank them backstage on their 1972 tour.
