Origin & Story

Amalfi Coast, Italy, 20th century

Limoncello — the intensely lemony digestif of Italy's Amalfi Coast — has been produced in the region for at least a century, originally as a homemade liqueur from the area's prized sfusato lemons. Applying the spritz formula (liqueur plus prosecco plus soda) to limoncello was a natural evolution in Italian aperitivo culture, and the resulting drink became a staple of coastal resorts and Italian-American restaurants around the world.
