Ingredients

  • 2 oz gin
  • 0.75 oz fresh lime juice
  • 0.75 oz simple syrup
  • 6-8 mint leaves
  • Mint sprig, to garnish

Instructions

  1. 1Add gin, lime juice, simple syrup, and mint leaves to a shaker with ice.
  2. 2Shake until well chilled.
  3. 3Double strain into a chilled coupe and garnish with a mint sprig.

New York/Chicago, 1920s

Its exact birthplace is disputed between a New York country club and Chicago's South Side gangs (who allegedly used it to mask the taste of bathtub gin), but it remains a refreshing mint-and-lime gin classic.
