Origin & Story

Jalisco, Mexico, late 20th century

The Vampiro — Spanish for vampire — takes its name from its dramatic crimson color, which comes from mixing tomato juice with orange juice and fresh lime. Hugely popular in Jalisco and throughout western Mexico, it occupies a space between the Bloody Mary and the Paloma: savory and spicy like the former, bright and citrusy like the latter.
