Origin & Story

Havana, Cuba, 1920s

Hemingway was a legendary regular at La Floridita bar in Havana, where he asked bartender Constantino Ribalaigua to modify the house daiquiri: no sugar (Hemingway was diabetic), double rum, grapefruit juice instead of plain lime, and a splash of maraschino for sweetness. Ribalaigua named the variation the Papa Doble; it's now universally known as the Hemingway Daiquiri.
